Following a successful long-standing series of Hungarian-Vietnamese International Conference, which started in 1998, and with attempt to emphasize the significance of local biodiversity, ecological farming and the value of ethnic people, the 9th Vietnamese–Hungarian International Conference on Agriculture for Sustainable Development will be held in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam (Tra Vinh city) from 20 to 24 September 2016.
The conference will be co-organized by the Research Centre for Farm Animal Gene Conservation (HáGK), the Association of Hungarian Small Animal Breeders for Gene Conservation (MGE) and Vietnamese scientific partner – Tra Vinh University (TVU).
The previous conferences had laid basic foundation for the cooperation of Vietnamese and Hungarian academic institutions in terms of Agricultural Research for Development and offered priceless opportunities for Vietnamese and Hungarian scientists as well as researchers from related countries to exchange scientific knowledge, experiences and transnational initiatives.
The approaching 9th conference will place emphasis on discussing and finding the possible solutions for the conflicts arising between economic oriented agricultural production and agro-biodiversity protection through “Research for Development” aspects. Joining the traditional subjects related mainly to gene conservation, sustainable agriculture, rural development, animal science and aquaculture, the theme of the 9th conference will be extended to crop science, environmental management and biotechnology.
