The XXVI International Poultry Symposium PB WPSA, the usual annual conference of the Polish section of WPSA was held in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland between 8 and 10 September, 2014. The title of the conference was „Science for poultry practice – poultry practice for science” and about 180 participants took part.
The conference was organized by Professor Antoni Brodacki and his colleagues from the nearby University of Life Sciences, Lublin.
Three invited lecturers from foreign countries took part in the symposium. For the invitation of Professor Andrzej Rutkowski, Dr Judit Barna, leader of the In vitro gene conservation and reproductive biology laboratory of the Research Centre for Farm Animal Gene Conservation gave a 30 minute presentation, entitled „Commercial poultry production and conservation techniques on old, local poultry breeds in Hungary". The presentation was co-authored by several colleagues of the Institute. As an invited lecturer, she was presented by a certificate of merit for her lecture at the closing event of the conference. 13 presentations were given by young researchers in English language on different topics of poultry research, as part of the traditional competition among PhD students. The following days 79 lectures were presented on the topics of poultry physiology, nutrition, animal healthcare and meat and egg quality.
