Professional conference of WP3 workgroup of HORIZON 2020 – IMAGE n°677353 project were organized between 18-20 October, 2017 in HáGK. The scientific aim of the research team WP3 within the project is to elaborate novel reproductive methods for in vitro gene conservation mainly in chicken and pig breeds.
Scientists from the Spanish INIA – Instituto Nacional de Investigacion y Tecnologica Agraria y Alimentaria, the French INRA- Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, the Italian PTP- Parco Tecnologico Padano, the British UED – University of Edinburgh, the Dutch WU- Wageningen University as well as HáGK are involved in implementing of these objectives. Sperm cryopreservation, PG cell manipulations, gonadal tissue as well as embryo deep freezing and transferare the main scopes of the investigations. The leader of WP3 team is Elisabeth Blesbois, professor from the INRA.
22 scientists from 6 countries took part at the event. Firstly director István Szalay greeted the participants and introduced the professional tasks of HáGK and its institutes. During the two days Marina Govoroun, Florence Guignot, Bence Lázár, Krisztina Liptói, Mike McGrew, Julián Santiago Moreno, Sunil Nandi, Eszter Patakiné Várkonyi, Aurore Thelie and Henri Woelders presented their research work and results achieved over the past 18 months as well as their planned tasks in the following period. The representatives of the different tasks had fruitful discussions helping each-other with useful ideas.
As the closing of the program the participants visited the different animal species and breeds in the in vivo gene bank of HáGK, the in vitro Poultry Gene Bank of HáGK-KÁTKI, the laboratories and the Institute of Apiculture and Bee Biology.
